The reading I selected for this week is all about Britomart, a young girl searching for the one she has fallen in love with. She is well trained like a knight and has an enchanted spear. I really enjoyed reading the stories for this first half because they showed a brave woman chasing her dream. She had seen the man of her dreams in Merlin's magic mirror one day and decided to hunt after him.
Each of the stories continue her tale and move it forward just a little bit. The last one does not have a completed ending and makes it very difficult to stop reading! I am excited to continue reading more about Britomart and the knight she seeks, Artegall. It is also interesting because there are several stories with women falling in love with Britomart due to her masculine appearance in armor. The gender-bending elements of these stories have added another level to the Arthurian legends!
